Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon make a maiden visit to Tehran, the Foreign Office said on Thursday.

It is expected to take place this month. The visit is seen as crucial as it comes against the backdrop of a visit by Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to Islamabad in February.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal says Pakistan won’t participate in the US-Taliban negotiations in Doha despite its support to the Afghan peace process.

“Pakistan will not be part of the next round of talks between Taliban and the US in Doha this month,” Dr Faisal said in a weekly press briefing. “Pakistan has always supported the Afghan peace process in the past. It will continue playing its role for enduring peace in Afghanistan.”

Dialogue is a good way to resolve all outstanding conflicts, he said.

The Russian government is going to organise an intra-Afghan dialogue on April 14 and 15. They had convened such a meeting in Moscow in February this year.

The FO spokesperson said Islamabad supports the talks aimed to bring peace in Afghanistan. Pakistan reiterated its demand from the international community to take notice of the Indian brutalities in Kashmir.

He said Pakistan has agreed to meeting the Indian officials on Kartarpur in good spirit on April 16 at the Zero Line in Kartarpur Sahib.

The Foreign Office spokesperson also explained Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s recent statement regarding the possibility of an attack by India. “We have credible intelligence that India may attack Pakistan in the coming days. That’s why, the foreign minister said it publicly,” he said.

The foreign secretary had briefed the P-5 countries over the potential Indian aggression, he said.

On April 7, the foreign minister had warned the world that India is planning another attack on Pakistan. He said the attack could be any day between April 16 and April 20.

Dr Faisal said Pakistan responded to Indian aggression without any foreign assistance and it will do so in future also.

He said a questionnaire over the Pulwama incident has been handed to the Indian High Commissioner to elicit further details from New Delhi regarding the attack.
